Nowfex Berhad believes the management of environmental, social and governance factors is an important part of ensuring the long-term success of any business, including our own. We are committed to integrating ESG within our operations and investment processes with the objective of creating sustainable value for our companies and our investors.

As custodians of large tracts of plantations, Nowfex Berhad has always recognised our responsibility towards the environment, we understand the impact our operations have on the livelihoods of our employees and neighbouring communities. 

Our workplace is made up of 90% full-time employees while 10% are part-time employees. Temporary workers play an important role in fulfilling either seasonal harvest needs or specialist, timebound tasks in our upstream plantations. 

Nowfex Berhad endeavours to improving yields and ensuring our workers and local communities share in the benefits of oil palm development. We are committed to conduct all relevant social & environmental impact assessment (SEIA) prior to all new development/planting.

Nowfex Berhand also engaging in Smallholder Partnership with land owners at remote areas.

Smallholder farmers play a crucial role in the palm oil industry, producing about 40% of the world’s palm oil. They also have a critical role in helping Nowfex achieve our business and sustainability goals. We therefore seek to promote an inclusive model that integrates these players into the global sustainable supply chain.

Nowfex Berhad is continuously working with its smallholder suppliers to identify ways of improving their agricultural practices towards global sustainability standards and higher production yields. We also work with partner organisations to develop programmes aimed at facilitating the inclusion of independent smallholders into sustainable supply chains.

Nowfex Berhad has scheme smallholder and independent smallholder programmes, which is offered to smallholders based on whether or not a smallholder is defined as part of a scheme or is independent. Nowfex defines scheme smallholders as those smallholders that have existing development credit agreements with Nowfex.
